8th Annual Scholarship Gala – April 30, 2012 Alumnus and community advocate Peter J. Berlandi '69 received the Chancellor's Medal for Exemplary Leadership on Monday, April 30 at the university's 8th Annual Scholarship Gala. In recognition for his achievements, a new scholarship, the Peter and Jackie Berlandi Scholarship, will support students from Boston. Fundraising for the event has set a new record at UMass Boston.
Retired faculty member Elaine Werby will make a difference through a gift of life insurance. Elaine Werby has spent her professional career helping others to make a good home for themselves. Her gift will continue the work of the Center for Social Policy which is celebrating its 20th anniversary on October 8, 2012.
